They eat dead/decaying matter, so less to eat = less of them, and your fish will be more likely to hunt, theoretically. I've only seen them in my tetra tank and the tank with my cories. I disagree, water striders have a completely different leg structure and their bodies are thinner for their length than this one. They're also typically brown/black instead of green. I've seen green ones. If it skates across the water, then that's what it is. It does look like a stink bug. Thunder_o_b.
